Johnson & Johnson's Quality Catastrophe
In December 2010, Johnson & Johnson was ordered to pay $1.1 million in punitive damages and $700,000 in compensatory damages to an 82-year-old man who suffered injuries as a result of the antibiotic Levaquin. The man suffered tendon damage after Johnson & Johnson failed to properly warn of the risk of this injury. There are currently more than 2,600 claims nationwide involving Levaquin. In the last year, Johnson & Johnson was involved in at least 11 major recalls, making the Levaquin verdict just another failure for the once trusted company.
