Home ► Blog ► Kelly Runge: Legal Assistant in Search of Waterfalls
At TorHoerman Law we believe that it is our employees’ and their combined individual personalities that make TorHoerman Law stand out as a firm. We value what makes us unique, so each month, we make a point to feature one of our amazing employees as part of the “THL People Series.” This month features the incredibly kind and friendly Kelly Runge.
When she’s not reviewing medical records or spending time with her family, Kelly Runge is an avid nature lover always in search of her next adventure. Her thoughtfulness and generosity do not go unnoticed throughout the office. Whether she is offering to bring something back from the store or asking about how your mom’s birthday two weeks ago went, the day is always a little better when Kelly is around.
Since this is my first time writing for the THL People Series, I was excited to sit down and interview Kelly. When I started at THL just over a month ago, Kelly was immediately welcoming, offering kindness and encouragement. She is always willing to answer a question and put a positive spin on any situation. It’s not just me, all of us at TorHoerman Law, are excited to work with such caring person on a day-to-day basis. Whatever the situation, Kelly is able to find a silver lining.
Q: What do you do here at TorHoerman Law?
A: Oh goodness. I order medical records and do the medical review. I work on personal injury lawsuits, including medical malpractice, pharmaceutical, medical devices, and just about everything else they do here. It’s my job to get the medical side of things ready so that the legal assistant to file the case.
Q: Whose team are you on?
A: Team Terry! Eric Terry, Kristie Stephens, and Kelly!
Q: How long have you been with the firm?
A: Hold on while I figure that out… I’ve been here eight years, and it’ll be nine later this year.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
A: What do I enjoy most about my job? My coworkers and investigating the client’s injuries to help them prove their case.
Q: What are some of your favorite things to do outside the office?
A: I like to go hiking. Anything water related. I like canoeing, swimming, floating… Anything outside. I just like being outside.
Q: Where is your favorite place to travel?
A: I don’t have one specific place. My goal is to see all fifty states and maybe even leave the country one of these days. I’m not going to repeat the places I visit because I want to see it all.
Q: Before you left for your last trip, you said you’d send us pictures of the waterfalls. Why do you love them so much?
A: They usually involve a hike to get there, and I already like that! It’s nature at its best. It’s beautiful. Waterfalls are never disappointing, they’re always gorgeous.
Q: Where was this waterfall?
A: That one was Abrams Falls in Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
Q: We hear your birthday is coming up. What is your favorite way to celebrate?
A: With my family. All I need is a big dinner and a couple games. That’s all I like- just time with my family.
