UNION, MO – A semi-truck driver was responsible for causing a chain-reaction crash on I-44, which sent a 39-year-old woman from Arnold to Mercy Hospital South on Monday.

Missouri Highway Patrol said The 67-year-old male truck driver had first rear-ended the 39-year-old woman’s 2020 Lincoln Aviator after failing to slow down for traffic. The Lincoln was pushed forward and hit a 2014 Ford Explorer. The Ford driver, a 41-year-old man from New Athens, Illinois, lost control of his car and then slammed into a guardrail.

Troopers said the multi-vehicle crash happened before 3:30 p.m. and also warranted a response from Crestwood fire crews.
