Amazon Basics Product Liability Lawsuit
Amazon’s private-label appliances titled “AmazonBasics” have been found to catch fire, melt or explode. The brand was launched back in 2009 and has more than 5,000 products on the marketplace. The global manufacturer sells its list in several of the largest global markets. Despite the many reported safety issues, Amazon has only ever issued two official recalls of Amazon Basics products.

Customers Raise Concern
There have been at least 1,500 customer reviews since 2016 for more than 70 items that described “products exploding, catching on fire, smoking, melting, causing electrical malfunctions or otherwise posing risks.” Several of the complaints listed on the website are accompanied by photos of the defective products. Around thirty items with three or more troubling reviews remain on the market on Amazon’s website.
