Water Pipe Bursts Leading to Crash Outside St. Louis’ Marie Fowler Park

ST. LOUIS, MO – A burst water pipe flooded St. Louis streets, which resulted in dangerous driving conditions for commuters and led to a crash that took place outside Marie Fowler Park on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in the area of Union and Page Boulevards and involved at least two drivers, Fox2Now reports.

One of the involved occupants, identified as Shaluv Jones, told Fox2Now that she was traveling east, on her way to pick up her daughter from school, when she came across a westbound vehicle, trying to avoid driving in the flooded area.

The aforementioned westbound vehicle was coming towards Jones, and she was able to avoid a head-on crash with that vehicle. However, a trailer on her right hit the trim of her right tire, which caused her front bumper to fall off.

No injuries were reported for Jones and the other drivers involved.

The City of St. Louis Water Division was first notified of the water flow in the area at 4 p.m. By 5 p.m., they were able to shut off the water flow by digging into the street to get to the damaged pipe. It was debris and water from that break that came into the road and flooded the streets, which also created the dangerous and inconvenient driving conditions for motorists, and this led to the crash involving Jones.

At the time of the reporting, crews were doing what they could to fix the broken pipe, which included the use of an excavator. The cause of the burst water pipe has not been made immediately clear.
