The Cheyenne Air National Guard Base PFAS Lawsuit investigation concerns forever chemicals in drinking water and groundwater in and around the Wyoming military base.
TorHoerman Law is currently investigating a potential Cheyenne Air National Guard Base PFAS Lawsuit.
On this page, we’ll discuss the Cheyenne Air National Guard Base PFAS Lawsuit investigation, the levels of PFAS chemicals in groundwater at Cheyenne Air National Guard Base, the dangers of PFAS chemicals in drinking water and groundwater, health risks linked to PFAS exposure, and much more.
Cheyenne Air National Guard Base, located in Cheyenne, Wyoming, serves as a vital military installation supporting the 153rd Airlift Wing of the Wyoming Air National Guard.
Positioned adjacent to Cheyenne Regional Airport, the base plays a strategic role in airlift and support missions, both domestically and abroad, operating C-130 Hercules aircraft.
In addition to its primary mission of tactical airlift, the base supports homeland defense, emergency response, and other federal and state operations.
Like many military sites across the country, Cheyenne ANG Base historically relied on Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) during firefighting exercises and emergency response training.
AFFF contains PFAS—persistent and toxic chemicals now recognized as a major environmental and public health concern.
Repeated use of AFFF over decades has likely led to the contamination of soil and groundwater on and around the base.
Testing and monitoring efforts are ongoing to determine the extent of PFAS pollution and assess potential exposure risks to military personnel, base workers, and nearby residents.
If you or a loved one were exposed to PFAS contaminated water at Cheyenne ANGB and developed cancer or other serious health problems, you may be eligible to file a claim.

Cheyenne Air National Guard Base has been identified as a site of significant PFAS contamination, raising major concerns for military personnel, civilian workers, and surrounding communities.
PFAS chemicals, known as “forever chemicals” for their persistence in the environment and human body, were discovered at levels far exceeding safety limits.
Published by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), PFAS chemicals were detected at the following levels in groundwater at Cheyenne Air National Guard Base in 2018:
These concentrations are significantly above the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2024 Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for PFOS and PFOA, which is set at 4 ppt, raising concerns about long-term health risks and environmental contamination.
The primary source of PFAS contamination at Cheyenne Air National Guard Base is the long-term use of aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), a firefighting foam heavily relied upon for extinguishing high-intensity fuel fires during military training exercises and emergency responses.
AFFF contains various polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS chemicals), including PFOS and PFOA, which are known as forever chemicals due to their resistance to natural breakdown.
Repeated AFFF use at this air national guard base has led to confirmed PFAS contamination, allowing these toxic substances to seep into the soil, groundwater, and eventually the drinking water supply.
In addition to AFFF, PFAS exposure may result from runoff from contaminated military sites, disposal practices, fire suppression systems, and the use of PFAS-containing materials and firefighting equipment.
The Environmental Working Group and other federal and state agencies have documented elevated PFAS levels in drinking water and groundwater at multiple military installations, including Cheyenne Air National Guard Base and nearby Warren Air Force Base and Tinker Air Force Base.
Due to the chemical persistence of PFAS, the groundwater contamination continues to worsen, threatening drinking water supplies both on base and in surrounding communities.
This significant PFAS contamination represents a major public health concern, as it affects private wells, public water systems, and off-base water supplies.
Without effective cleanup efforts, these hazardous substances will continue to pollute the environment and jeopardize the health of military personnel, civilian workers, and nearby residents.
Those at highest risk of PFAS exposure at Cheyenne Air National Guard Base include military service members, air national guard personnel, contractors, and civilian workers stationed at or working near the base—particularly during years when AFFF was routinely used in firefighting drills and fuel fire training exercises.
Individuals who lived or worked at the base may have consumed PFAS contaminated water from on-base drinking water systems or were exposed through occupational activities involving PFAS-containing firefighting foams.
Additionally, families residing on or near the installation—especially children, pregnant women, and other vulnerable populations—may face increased health risks due to the migration of PFAS from contaminated groundwater into private drinking water wells and local water supplies.
Communities surrounding the base, including those near other potentially contaminated sites like Cannon Air Force Base, Sawyer Air Force Base, and Eaker Air Force Base, may also face similar exposure risks.
Because PFAS levels at Cheyenne Air National Guard Base exceed the Environmental Protection Agency’s health advisory limits, individuals exposed to PFAS chemicals may suffer serious health consequences, such as thyroid disease, testicular cancer, developmental delays, immune system dysfunction, and other long-term health issues.
The widespread contamination underscores the urgent need for accountability, cleanup, and protections for those affected.
You may qualify for a PFAS lawsuit related to Cheyenne Air National Guard Base PFAS contamination if you lived, worked, or served on or near the base and were subsequently diagnosed with a health condition linked to PFAS exposure.
Individuals potentially eligible include military service members, civilian workers, and residents who consumed or used contaminated drinking water from on-base or off-base water supplies impacted by forever chemicals such as PFOS and PFOA.
Qualifying health conditions may include thyroid disease, testicular cancer, kidney disease, immune disorders, and other illnesses associated with elevated PFAS levels.
Eligibility may also extend to family members of service members who were exposed to PFAS-contaminated water, especially those with long-term residency in the area or access to private drinking water wells.
Each case is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and consulting with an experienced PFAS attorney can help determine whether your situation meets the legal requirements for filing a claim.
To strengthen your case in the Cheyenne Air National Guard Base PFAS lawsuit, it’s essential to gather comprehensive evidence that links your PFAS exposure to your current health condition.
Start by documenting your residence, employment, or military service at or near the base during periods when PFAS contamination was likely.
Military records, housing leases, employment documents, and base access credentials can all serve as critical proof of exposure.
Obtain medical records that detail any diagnoses related to PFAS-linked health issues such as thyroid disorders, immune system dysfunction, or certain types of cancer.
If available, include PFAS water testing results, EPA reports, or findings from the Environmental Working Group that confirm high PFAS concentrations in your area.
An experienced environmental or personal injury lawyer can assist in compiling this evidence, working with medical and scientific experts, and guiding you through the legal process to seek the compensation you deserve for health problems linked to PFAS chemicals.
TorHoerman Law is actively investigating claims related to PFAS contamination at Cheyenne Air National Guard Base, where dangerous levels of PFOS, PFOA, and other toxic chemicals have been detected in groundwater.
With extensive experience handling environmental and toxic exposure litigation, our firm is committed to helping military service members, civilian workers, and surrounding community members pursue justice for PFAS-related health problems.
We understand the devastating impact that forever chemicals can have on public health and are prepared to gather evidence, consult with scientific experts, and guide victims through the legal process.
If you or a loved one were exposed to PFAS-contaminated water at or near Cheyenne Air National Guard Base and have experienced adverse health effects such as thyroid disease, cancer, or immune system issues, you may be eligible to file a lawsuit.
TorHoerman Law offers free consultations to help determine your eligibility and explain your legal options.
Use the chat feature on this page to find out if you qualify for a PFAS contamination claim instantly.
Our team is dedicated to holding responsible parties accountable and securing fair compensation for those harmed by PFAS exposure.
PFAS chemicals, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are a group of synthetic compounds widely used since the 1940s in consumer products and industrial applications due to their resistance to heat, water, and oil.
These “forever chemicals” are found in firefighting foams, non-stick cookware, stain-resistant fabrics, food packaging, and many other products.
Their durability means PFAS persist in the environment and human body, leading to long-term contamination concerns.
PFAS exposure has been linked to a range of serious health effects, including thyroid disease, testicular and kidney cancer, liver damage, immune system suppression, and developmental issues in infants and children.
People exposed to PFAS-contaminated drinking water, especially on or near military installations like Cheyenne Air National Guard Base, face an increased risk of these conditions.
Ongoing studies and reviews by the Environmental Protection Agency and disease control agencies continue to underscore the potential dangers to public health.
The primary source of PFAS contamination at military bases is the historical and repeated use of aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), a firefighting foam used to combat fuel fires during military training and emergency responses.
These foams contain high concentrations of PFOS, PFOA, and other PFAS compounds that seep into groundwater and nearby drinking water supplies.
Decades of use at sites like Cheyenne Air National Guard Base and other military sites have led to confirmed PFAS contamination, affecting military personnel, civilian workers, and surrounding communities.
In addition to Cheyenne ANGB, dozens of military installations across the country—including Holloman Air Force Base, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, and Pease Air Force Base—have been identified as affected sites where PFAS was detected in groundwater or drinking water.
The EPA’s health advisory limits set in 2024 place a strict 4 ppt maximum for PFOS and PFOA, yet many of these locations recorded significant PFAS levels far above that threshold.
The Department of Defense has initiated cleanup and testing programs at multiple installations in response to suspected PFAS contamination.
Bases such as Rock Air Force Base, England Air Force Base, and Eielson Air Force Base have all undergone site investigations.
Naval facilities like Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Naval Air Station Pensacola, and Naval Air Station Oceana are also part of the PFAS site review process, focusing on addressing PFAS contamination caused by decades of AFFF use.
Many U.S. military bases used AFFF containing toxic PFAS compounds during fire suppression drills, aircraft maintenance, and fuel spill responses.
This practice led to drinking water contaminated with PFOS and PFOA, placing both residents and personnel at risk.
Efforts to address PFAS pollution are ongoing, but long-term exposure continues to raise concern for those who served at Nellis Air Force Base, Malmstrom Air Force Base, Stone’s Ranch Military Reservation, and similar high-risk locations.
The National Cancer Institute, among other agencies, has identified potential associations between long-term PFAS exposure and serious health conditions, including kidney cancer, testicular cancer, and thyroid disease.
Veterans and families living near potential PFAS contamination zones, such as Vermont Air National Guard or Air Force Plant locations, may be especially vulnerable to these environmental and health damages.
While the Department of Defense is overseeing the cleanup, legal attention has turned to PFAS manufacturers who supplied the fluorinated chemicals used in military firefighting foams.
These companies may be partially responsible for the contamination at bases including Naval Air Station Oceana and Cheyenne ANGB, where significant PFAS levels have been found in soil and groundwater.
Lawsuits continue to explore compensation for putting service members and nearby residents at risk.
