CHICAGO, IL – Chicago Police have charged a man in connection to a single-vehicle collision that killed a 29-year-old woman in early September.

According to abc 7, 29-year-old Hamid Popla will appear in court to face two charges of failure to report an accident involving death.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 7th, on West Congress Parkway between South Racine Avenue and South Morgan Street in University Village.

The investigation indicates that Popla was driving an eastbound Lincoln when he lost control of the car and crashed into a median.

A passenger in the car, identified as Lilia Perez, died after transport to an area hospital.

Popla will return to court on January 9th.
