CHICAGO, IL – A woman lost her life early Monday due to a single-vehicle collision in Chicago’s South Deering area that left two children seriously injured, according to Chicago Sun-Times.

Chicago police said the fatal accident took place in the 3000 block of East 106th Street.

A preliminary investigation found that the woman was operating an SUV when it collided with a pole, causing a 5-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy to eject from the vehicle.

Both children were initially transported to a hospital in Indiana and then sent to Comer Children’s Hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.

The woman, whose name and age remains undisclosed, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No further details have been provided at this time, as an investigation by the Chicago Police Department’s Accidents Unit remains underway.
