Ambiano coffee maker injury claims concern ALDI Ambiano Single Serve Coffee Makers that can unexpectedly expel hot water from the top of the machine, exposing users to scalding injuries.
On August 15, 2024, ALDI recalled approximately 28,000 Ambiano Single Serve Coffee Makers, models 708924 and 708925, because of this burn hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported that ALDI had received 25 accounts of hot water being expelled from the machines, including three reports of burns.
The recall establishes a documented product safety concern, but it does not determine what caused each incident or establish liability for every injury.
TorHoerman Law is reviewing potential product liability claims from consumers burned by recalled Ambiano coffee makers and other defective coffee makers.

A person injured when an Ambiano coffee maker unexpectedly sprays hot water may have grounds to pursue compensation if a defective product or inadequate warning caused the injury.
A case review may examine the machine’s model number, how the incident occurred, the condition of the appliance, and the resulting medical treatment or financial losses.

ALDI announced the recall on August 15, 2024, under CPSC Recall No. 24-341.
According to the recall, the affected machines can forcefully release hot water from the top, creating a burn hazard for people standing or reaching near the appliance.
The recalled units were imported by ALDI Inc., of Batavia, Illinois, and manufactured in China.
The official recall identifies the following details:
These figures refer to reports disclosed with the recall, not the total number of people who may have experienced a malfunction or injury.
The recall notice does not identify a specific defective seal, valve, lid, or other component as the confirmed cause of the hot-water releases.
The ALDI coffee makers recalled on August 15, 2024, were Ambiano Single Serve models 708924 and 708925.
The recalled coffee makers were available in the following colors: gray, blue, pink, and purple.
The Ambiano name is printed on the side of each machine.
Consumers can find the model number and UPC code on the rating label on the bottom of the coffee maker.
The CPSC lists these UPC codes for the recalled products:
To identify recalled coffee makers, compare the model and UPC numbers on the label with the CPSC’s official recall notice rather than relying on color or appearance alone.
These identifiers apply to the recalled coffee makers, not the separate Ambiano electric pressure cookers recalled in October 2025.
The reported hazard is specific: hot water can be expelled from the top of the coffee maker instead of remaining inside the brewing system and flowing into the cup.
Hot water may spray toward someone standing or reaching near the machine, leading to burns on the hands, arms, chest, or other exposed skin.
Hot-water scalds can cause serious burn injuries even when contact lasts only a short time, depending on the water temperature, volume, and affected area.
A coffee maker normally heats water and directs it through the brewing components into a cup.
If water escapes from an unintended opening, an investigation may consider whether a component malfunctioned, a passage became obstructed, or the machine’s design and warnings adequately addressed foreseeable operating conditions.
Questions that may require product-specific examination include:
These are potential investigative questions, not defects established by the CPSC recall.
The cause of any particular incident should be evaluated using the appliance, available photographs, witness information, and other evidence.
Immediately stop using the recalled appliance, even if it has never malfunctioned.
The original 2024 CPSC notice described two possible recall remedies: a full cash refund of $49.99 plus applicable sales tax at an ALDI store, or a $75 ALDI electronic gift card through the recall registration process.
However, ALDI’s recall notice updated in April 2026 describes the $75 electronic gift-card procedure and instructs consumers to contact ALDI for registration and product-disposal directions.
Because the published versions differ, consumers should confirm the current remedy directly with ALDI before returning or disabling the machine.
If you own a recalled Ambiano coffee maker and have not been injured:
If the machine injured you, preserve it and seek legal advice before returning, cutting its cord, or disposing of it.
The original machine may be important physical evidence in a product liability investigation.
The CPSC documented three reports of burn injuries involving the recalled Ambiano models when the recall was announced.
The recall does not disclose the severity, treatment, or long-term outcome of those three injuries.
Scalding water released during brewing may cause the following types of injuries, depending on the circumstances:
These are medically possible outcomes of hot-water exposure and should not be interpreted as injuries verified among the three reports in the Ambiano recall.
Someone with significant blistering, burns to the face or hands, or other concerning symptoms should seek prompt medical attention.
Medical records documenting the affected body areas, treatment, and healing may also help establish the impact of the incident.
A person may have a potential claim if an Ambiano coffee maker unexpectedly expelled hot water during normal or reasonably foreseeable use and caused a burn injury.
The fact that a machine was recalled may be relevant, but it does not automatically establish a right to compensation.
An attorney may consider:
A consumer does not need to identify the exact failed component before asking a lawyer to evaluate the facts.
The potential claim depends on establishing that a legally actionable defect or other wrongful conduct caused the injury.
Potential defendants in a product liability lawsuit depend on the appliance’s manufacturing and distribution history, the applicable law, and evidence of what caused the accident.
ALDI is identified by the CPSC as the importer of the recalled coffee makers and was the retailer that sold them.
Claims could also involve a manufacturer or another company in the product’s distribution chain if evidence supports its involvement and legal responsibility.
Product liability claims may involve a defect in the product’s design or manufacture, or an inadequate warning about foreseeable hazards.
The recall alone does not establish which legal theory applies or which company would be liable in a particular case.
First obtain appropriate medical treatment and discontinue use of the appliance.
Do not attempt to reproduce the malfunction, and do not open or repair the coffee maker to determine why water escaped.
If it is safe to do so, keep the appliance in its post-incident condition until an attorney or other qualified professional advises how it should be handled.
Useful evidence may include:
Physical evidence may become unavailable if the product is returned or destroyed as part of a recall remedy.
TorHoerman Law’s personal injury evidence guide explains how photographs, records, and other information may support an injury claim.
The recall refund or electronic gift card concerns the purchase of the recalled appliance.
For burn victims, a refund does not, by itself, compensate for medical expenses or other harm caused by a hot-water incident.
Depending on the evidence and applicable state law, recoverable damages may include:
Any claim must establish responsibility for the injury and the amount of the resulting losses.
There is no verified standard settlement amount or guaranteed payout for Ambiano coffee maker burn claims.

ALDI’s August 2024 recall is a product safety action, not a class action settlement.
Individual injury claims may be possible when a defective coffee maker causes burns, but no specific Ambiano coffee maker personal injury complaint or certified class action was independently verified in the sources reviewed as of October 23, 2026.
A person who was injured does not need to wait for a class action to request an assessment of a potential claim.
The recalled Ambiano Single Serve Coffee Makers bear model numbers 708924 and 708925.
They were sold in gray, blue, pink, and purple at ALDI grocery stores between July and September 2023.
The model and UPC information appears on the rating label on the bottom of the unit.
The CPSC reported that recalled machines can unexpectedly expel hot water from the top, creating a burn hazard.
ALDI received 25 reports of hot-water releases, including three reports of burns, before the recall was announced.
The federal notice does not identify a specific internal component as the confirmed cause.
Accepting a recall remedy does not necessarily prevent a separate injury claim, but the terms of any agreement and the applicable law should be reviewed.
A consumer who was injured should consider preserving the machine and obtaining legal advice before following instructions to disable or destroy it.
No.
The coffee maker recall concerns models 708924 and 708925, announced on August 15, 2024.
A separate October 9, 2025, CPSC recall involved Ambiano electric pressure cookers with different model numbers and a different burn hazard.
You may still request a legal review, but losing the machine can make it harder to determine how a reported malfunction occurred.
Preserve any remaining photographs, model information, purchase records, recall correspondence, and medical documentation.
An attorney can assess whether the available evidence supports further investigation.
