SharkNinja Operating LLC, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, issued a voluntary recall on May 1, 2025 for its Ninja Foodi OP300 Series Multi‑Function Pressure Cookers due to a critical safety defect.
Consumers may check the unit labeled on the back near the power cord to confirm the model number.
Models affected by the voluntary recall include:
- OP300, OP300C
- OP301, OP301A, OP301C
- OP302, OP302BRN, OP302HAQ, OP302HCN, OP302HW, OP302HB
- OP305, OP305CO, OP305CCO
- OP350CO
Replacement pressure cooking lid units sold separately under OP300-series SKUs are also part of this recall.
The core hazard stems from a flaw that allows the pressure cooking lid to be opened while the unit is still pressurized, enabling hot contents to escape unexpectedly.
This defect poses a severe burn hazard, particularly when the product’s pressure cooking function is used.
SharkNinja and the CPSC have logged 106 reports of burn injuries, more than 50 of which resulted in second‑ or third‑degree burns to the face or body.
To date, more than 20 lawsuits have been filed by injured consumers.
Approximately 1.85 million units were sold in the United States and roughly 184,240 in Canada, from January 2019 to March 2025.
Retailers included Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, Target stores nationwide, plus online sales via Amazon, ninjakitchen.com, and official retailer websites.
Units retailed for about $200 each.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the product’s pressure cooking function.
Other functions—like air frying and steaming—are not affected and may still be used safely.
SharkNinja is offering a free replacement lid to owners of affected units.
Consumers must remove and discard the current pressure cooking lid, then register online to receive a replacement pressure cooking lid at no cost.
The company has conducted outreach by email, text, and postal mail, and has asked retailers to post in‑store notices.
