NEAR EUREKA, MO – Missouri Department of Transportation closed Interstate 44 West for over an hour following a semi-truck crash that happened east of Eureka on Thursday.
FirstAlert 4 said the incident unfolded around 7 a.m. when the semi-truck jackknifed and crashed into a median at the bottom of Antire Hill between Exit 266 and Exit 269.
Missouri State Highway Patrol and Eureka Fire Protection both responded to the scene and initiated closures a short time later. During the closures, officials told drivers to consider alternative routes.
All lanes reopened at 8:30 a.m.
Fire crews said a smaller tractor-trailer was having problems on I-44 East, but that truck appeared to be a separate incident.
Authorities have not specified the factors behind the crash and have not reported any injuries at this time.
